Special Olympiads.

Oct. 10, 2006

BENICIA, Calif. - Team Cobalt California was joined by members of the
Halifax County, Virginia chapter of The Special Olympics at VIRginia
International Raceway throughout the Oct. 6-8 Grand-Am Cup Series
weekend.

The Olympiads sat behind the wheel of the Chevrolet Cobalt SS
Supercharged No. 48 and No. 98 cars, aided in changing wheels, and
assisted in detailing the cars prior to practice.  The children also ate lunch
with the team and spent a significant amount of time with the drivers and
crew.

“The energy and excitement from the kids was contagious,” team co-
owner Robyn Lepper said. “The interaction between my team and the
children, combined with the fun the kids had turned a successful
weekend into one that I will never forget.”
In the final race of the 2006 Grand-Am Cup Series, Team Cobalt
California's No. 48 car, driven by VJ Mirzayan and Sean Hayes, finished
12th in the Street Tuner class and was the first Cobalt to take the
checkered flag.  This resulted in Team Cobalt California finishing the last
race of the season as the top finishing Cobalt for General Motors
Performance Division.  The No. 98 car, driven by Aaron Povoledo, Jack
Mardikian and team co-owner Tom Lepper, was the second Cobalt to take
the checkered flag.  Mechanical issues briefly hampered the No. 98 car,
but it returned to the track to complete the race 15th in class.
“We are very proud of our team and the 2006 season as a whole.  Our
results at VIR that contributed to Chevrolet's successful third place finish
in factory points were the topping on the cake” Tom Lepper said.

Team Cobalt California would like to thank its sponsors Red Line Oil,
Clutch Masters, Sparco, K & N Air Filters, Cobalt Friction, Vibrant
Performance and Thomas Lepper Associates for their participation in this
successful season.

A special thanks goes to VIRginia International Raceway and Grand-
American Road Racing Association for their involvement, and cooperation
with The Special Olympics.
TCC is proud to announce that former Formula 1 driver and Olympian Davina Galica will be co-driving with Sarena Traver during the U.S. Sports Car Invitational at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in May!
